Lee Garden Club Focuses On Herb Garden

Lee County Garden Club members are continuing their garden therapy project at Lee Health and Rehab Center in Pennington Gap.

The club has established a healing herb garden which includes rosemary, lavender, cinnamon basil, pansies and French marigold. Club members added five dwarf hydrangeas in the spring and replaced three rosemary and eight lavender plants. The garden incorporates touch, smell and sounds for the residents with the bird feeder filled daily by Lee Health residents.

A grant from the Southwest District was used for the project. The garden is designed with large sidewalks with Lee Garden Club Focuses On Herb Garden accessibility for walkers and wheelchairs. Betty Fleenor, Virginia Federation Garden Clubs Committee Chairman, visited the project site following a herb garden presentation to Lee County Garden club members in August.
