VHCA Regirer Nursing Scholarship

Posted on:

The Commonwealth Long Term Care Foundation (CLTCF) is pleased to award nursing scholarships to thirty-one outstanding recipients employed in long-term care facilities across the state, including two CCR employees. This Foundation was created to provide financial support to outstanding nursing facility staff who are enrolled in nursing school to further their professional development in long term care.

Please join CCR in congratulating our 2019 Regirer Nursing Scholarship recipients:

Ms. Deana Valade, an Accountant at Commonwealth Care of Roanoke, is a recipient of this year’s Regirer Nurse Scholarship. She is attending Virginia Western Community College and is pursuing an RN degree.

Ms. Samantha Cupp, a Licensed Practical Nurse at Lee Health & Rehab Center in Pennington Gap, VA, is a recipient of this year’s Regirer Nurse Scholarship. She plans to further her education to become an RN.

The scholarships are named for Walter and Maria Teresa, who, as members of the Virginia Health Care Association (VHCA), led efforts to improve access to long term care education for career professionals.  The Regirer Nursing Scholarship Program is designed to promote and support the quality of care and to enhance the educational level of nurses currently working in VHCA member facilities.  The Regirers were leaders in the VHCA, which is an affiliated organization of the Commonwealth Long Term Care Foundation.

“One of the biggest challenges facing healthcare is the nursing shortage. The need for quality nursing staff in Virginia’s nursing facilities is more critical than ever,” said Keith Hare, president, and CEO of the Virginia Health Care Association – Virginia Center for Assisted Living (VHCA-VCAL). “It is an honor to provide this financial support to Deana & Samantha, who are dedicating their careers to providing compassionate, high-quality care to the residents of Virginia’s nursing centers and assisted living communities.”
