Why I Care: Rebekah Rutledge, RN

  • Lee Health & Rehab Center

Everyone at Lee Health & Rehab Center is rooted in the collective desire to offer the highest quality care to our patients and residents.  Our goal is to make a difference in their lives.  We’re dedicated to the care and recovery of our patients and residents. From skilled nurses to responsive maintenance workers, Lee Health & Rehab Center understands the value of the human touch.

Through the AHCA #WhyICare campaign, we’ll be introducing you to our team members and what inspires them to work at a long term care facility.  In our second #WhyICare, we want to introduce you to Rebekah Rutledge, RN at Lee Health & Rehab Center.

My name is Rebekah Rutledge and I have been at Lee Health and Rehab Center for ten years. I began my career here at Lee Health as a CNA. I continued my education while also continuing to work as a CNA. I graduated from MECC in 2009 with my Practical Nursing Certificate and my LPN license in 2010. I began my Associate’s degree in Applied Science at MECC in 2011, graduated in 2013 and received my RN License in August 2013. I am currently enrolled in Ashworth College pursuing my Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing. I have worked multiple jobs at Lee Health and Rehab which includes CNA, LPN, Scheduler, RN, MDS Coordinator and now the Director of Nursing.

I decided to begin my career in nursing due to my desire to help people and expand my knowledge in health care. Both of my sisters are nurses and so was my grandmother, who served as a nurse at the Red Cross many years ago. I believe every person has a purpose in life and why they’re here. I believe my purpose is to educate, help, and lead.

One of the best days of my nursing career was when I was able to assist with Camp Jubilee and push the residents in their wheelchairs. They had such a great time and it warmed my heart to see all of their smiles.

I chose to work in a long term care facility because I truly enjoy the company of the elderly and it is satisfying to know we are making a difference in their lives. A lot of our residents do not have family and we’re their only family. It is a blessing to be part of the family here at Lee Health and Rehab.
