Why I Stay: Rachel Petrey, LPN

Rachel Petrey is Lee Health and Rehab Center’s longest-serving employee. She has worked at the facility for 22 and a half years. During her time, she has cared for many patients, and taking care of them is her favorite part of the job. She enjoys listening to their life stories and getting to know them and their families so she can provide the best care possible. Her co-workers also play a big role in her job.

One story she shared was when a patient went into cardiac arrest, and the staff started CPR and resuscitated her. The patient was talking to Rachel as she left the facility for the hospital. Saying that Rachel was proud of her co-workers for their successful effort—especially being able to deliver the good news to the patient’s appreciative husband—would be an understatement.

Rachel said she would definitely recommend Lee Health and Rehab Center to anyone because she has been treated like family during her tenure. “I was sick, and my co-workers were very good to me while I was off—calling, checking on me, bringing me food and presents. I can always count on them.”
