Why I Stay: Ruth Baker, CNA
- Lee Health & Rehab Center
Ruth has been an employee of Lee Health and Rehab Center for 21 years. She works as a full time Certified Nurse Aide in the Alzheimer’s Unit. When asked what she liked the most about her position, she answered “Making a difference in someone’s life when they need it the most.”
She chose this career path because she believes that caring for others is a way to brighten someone’s day when they may be at their worst. The smiles and greetings from her residents is what she looks forward to when coming to work daily.
“Going from a corrections officer to a Certified Nurse Aide was a great challenge for me. However, I believe it was the best move I could have made. I try to leave work knowing I touched someone’s life each day. The time I spend with each resident represents how much I care about my job at Lee Health and Rehab Center. The tight working relationship between the co-workers outnumbers the other jobs I’ve had during my life. The activity department always goes above and beyond making the employees feel needed by doing many different events for us. I would definitely recommend Lee Health and Rehab Center to anyone needing a job or to place a loved one.
